Wayne State University will host approximately 600 attendees on campus from June 21-24 for the newly rebranded DHack: Detroit’s Hackathon. During DHack, college and high school students and the community will come together to create tech projects in an overnight event culminating in cash and technology prizes for the winning projects.

Formerly known as HackWSU, DHack will transform the second floor of the David Adamany Undergraduate Library into a hub of ideas and innovation as beginner, intermediate and expert hackers collaborate on software and hardware projects, including mobile apps, web applications, robotics, drones and more. In addition to the competition, there will be opportunities to participate in other challenges and breakout workshops.

Orientation kicks off at 6 p.m. June 21, during Techstars Startup Week Detroit (detroitstartupweek.com). The hacking begins on June 23 at 9 a.m. and runs until noon on June 24. Hackers will have a wide range of resources to develop innovative prototypes including guidance from tech coaches, who will be available during the entire all-night event. Pillows and sleeping bags are recommended.

“Thanks to our partnerships with Startup Week and AngelHack, this year’s DHack will really allow us to connect with Detroit at a different level than we’ve been able to in years past,” said Aubrey Agee, project director for DHack. “We’re looking forward to working with hackers of all ages and experience levels — there’s something for everyone!”
