Wayne State’s College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts celebrates 39th Arts Achievement Awards

The College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts (CFPCA) at Wayne State University will honor leading entertainment attorney and founder of the Detroit Music Awards Howard Hertz during its 39th Arts Achievement Awards. At this event, outstanding alumni and former students will be recognized for their dedication to and advocacy for the arts and communication, and for achievements in their respective fields.

The 2018 Arts Achievement Awards will take place on Thursday, April 5, in the university’s Student Center Ballroom.

Hertz, who specializes in entertainment law and is the lead attorney for Hertz Schram's Entertainment Practice Group, has represented numerous artists and entities in the entertainment field, including authors, screenwriters, recording artists, radio personalities, producers, athletes and more. Among others, his most well-known clients have been Eminem, Jack White, George Clinton, Sippie Wallace, Marilyn Manson, The Romantics, The Bass Brothers, The GO, Mike Posner, Original 1265 Recordings, the Marshall Mathers Foundation, Warner Tamerlane, and Atlantic Records.

“We are delighted to celebrate Howard’s achievements as a leader in the entertainment industry, who has helped so many alumn find success,” said Matthew Seeger, CFPCA dean. “We are particularly thankful for Howard’s role in promoting the leaders of Detroit music.”

Hertz will receive the university’s college-level Arts Advocacy Award and be recognized among several other talented departmental honorees at the event, which is free and open to the public. Interested guests are encouraged to RSVP by March 30.

Sarah Ryley – Career Achievement Award in the Field of Communication  
Michael Luchs – Career Achievement Award in the Field of Art and Art History
Michael Krajewski – Career Achievement Award in the Field of Music
David Calhoun – Career Achievement Award in the Field of Theatre
