WSU School of Medicine to make major announcement Tuesday

Mayor, Rep. Kilpatrick to speak at 10 a.m. press conference

The Wayne State University School of Medicine will host a press conference at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, to announce a major initiative that will have far-reaching social and economic impact on the city of Detroit and the surrounding area.

Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick, D-Detroit, and Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick will join with WSU and Detroit Medical Center officials in Scott Hall, 540E. Canfield, to discuss a new program that will influence the health of our community.

With more than 1,000 medical students, WSU is among the nation's largest medical schools. Together with the WSU Physician Group, a practice organization consisting of the school's 750 clinical faculty members, the school is a leader in patient care and medical research in a number of areas, including cancer, genetics, the neurosciences and women and children's health.
